Valentitanic Trio

10:30PM
jazz, psychedelic, Experimental, Non-Threatening
(Sydney, nsw)
Jazz is supposed to rebel against classical so let’s rebel against jazz.

On Valentine’s Day 2023 a monster was birthed from an ancient egg near the Cooks River in Tempe. The Valentitanic Trio argues for the rebellious spirit of jazz. We are not here to play jazz. We are here to play the room, in the room, for the room, with the room. Our own special brand of Hatejazz will bring joy and nightmares to all who behold.

Who are we?

Mike Kennett (Squid, Fabulous Contraption) - guitar/keys

Alia Josephine (Vermillion Trio) - saxophone

Tim Bradley (On The Stoop, every single band ever) - drums

Josh Shipton (TRIANGLE, Blue Eyed Ravens) - bass

If you miss them you’ll need to write yourself a personal apology.

Angel Grindr is an industrial punk band based in Sydney, regularly performing in venues around the inner west of Sydney. With their debut album on the way, Angel Grindr sports an abrasive presence, influenced by the likes of Einsturzende Neubauten, Pussy Galore, Captain Beefheart and Albert Ayler. With Louis Wishart on co-lead vocals and Bass Guitar, the band also features Clancy Reynolds on co-lead vocals, prepared guitar and clarinet, alongside Hayley Chan on scrap metal percussion and Bon Lowe on drum set. With a heavy presence of scrap metal, car parts and fire extinguishers treated with guitar pedals, Angel Grindr combines compact punk song structures with lo-fi, grungy avant-garde timbres. Angel Grindr have recently been commissioned by Backstage Music to prepare a set for their upcoming concert series alongside world-class classical vocalists Jane Sheldon and Anna Fraser, where they will perform a live soundtrack to the film “Palindrome” (1969), dir. Hollis Frampton.
